Old Holy Trinity Church — Own Photograph

A church was recorded on the site of the Old Holy Trinity in 1235, but the only remnant from around this date is the ledger slab in the floor that sits in front of the vestry door.

The Church was restored in 1684 for William Wentworth, 2nd Earl of Strafford, but the tower can be dated back to 1491.

The church was converted to a mausoleum in 1877 after a new Holy Trinity Church, church was commissioned by the 6th Earl Fitzwilliam.

Old Holy Trinity is a Grade II* listed building on the National Heritage List for England. Today is is in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.
